Pope Benedict XVI launched on Saturday the year dedicated for the bimillennium celebrations of the birth of the Apostle Paul. Annopaolino.org is the official website of the yearlong celebration. According to the site, the Pauline celebration, which officially began yesterday (28 June 2008) and will end on 29 June 2009, will include “a series of liturgical, cultural and ecumenical events, as well as various pastoral and social initiatives, all inspired by Pauline spirituality”.

I think St. Paul is the most travelled of all the apostles. He went to such far-away places as Asia Minor (now Turkey), Syria and Arabia (now Jordan), Jerusalem, Greece and Rome in order to preach the Gospel. Thus it comes as no surprise that St. Paul is known the world over as Apostle to the Gentiles “who was particularly committed to bringing the Good News to all people, gave everything he had for unity and harmony among all Christians.”
