The Cardinal Arinze Webcast

October 5th, 2007

Yes, the world-famous cardinal webcasts. If you can’t wait, you can click here to leave my site and begin listening to Cardinal Francis Arinze. The cardinal’s webcasts discuss “what the Catholic Church really is about and what her true message is on living a joyful and fulfilling life.”

I am convinced that webcasting and similar technology offer a new and powerful way of spreading and discussing in depth the message of the Gospel. That is why I am glad the Vatican has taken advantage of the popularity of this technology. Cardinal Francis Arinze is the Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments. The cardinal is no stranger to the world of new media. He appears regularly on TV and has produced almost about 2,000 TV programs with the Apostolate for Family Consecration.

I have not podcasted for quite a while, so I said yes when Jun Asis of mabutingbalita.net asked me to help him make a Rosary podcast. The Rosary podcast we’ve recorded is in the Tagalog language. Since October is the month of the Holy Rosary, we thought it would be timely to make it available now.

Why pray the rosary? The main reason why we need to pray the Rosary is to remember in prayer the important events or mysteries in the history of our salvation. Each mystery of the Rosary is a meditation on a particular moment in the life and work of Christ.

Feel free to download or listen to the Tagalog version of the Holy Rosary by clicking the following:

Almost Done

October 19th, 2005

My Joomla-powered podcast site is almost done. It looks decent but it is not yet perfect. I mean, some components, bots and modules are yet to be installed. And it seems that there are errors when it is viewed with Microsoft Internet Explorer so I still have to fix that. Well, my site is too cool for IE anyway. My suggestion? Uninstall IE, and use Opera or Firefox.

Mylene

July 4th, 2005

Mylene is only 29 years old but she already went through three surgical operations. First, for a kidney transplant when she was only 24. Second, to remove a lump in her breast. And just recently, to replace her damaged hip. At first she was very bitter and even blamed God. But now she feels bubbly and, as a nurse in a British hospital, makes it a point to bring hope and inspiration to her patients. What changed her outlook? What is her source of strength? How can wounding be a source of blessing? Why does she think that through her sickness God has given her a mission? Download this podcast to listen to Mylene’s story and allow her to bring hope and inspiration into your life today.

His name is Lawrence Stephens. He is one of the only two lay persons (read: non-ordained) in the world who have been appointed as General Secretary of a Bishops’ Conference. I interviewed Lawrence about his experiences as General Secretary of the Bishops’ Conference of Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands. We also talked about the special role of the laity in the church. In the Decree on the Apostolate of the Laity, Pope Paul VI , proclaimed that the acitivity of the laity “is so necessary within the Church communities that without it the apostolate of the priests is often unable to achieve its full effectiveness”. In this episode you will also hear an alternative Christian song entitled “Proclaim”.

Father’s Day Podcast

June 18th, 2005

This is a Father’s Day special edition podcast, in recognition of the extraordinary roles fathers play in our lives, in our families and in our societies. I conversed with 4 friends from various parts of the world. Mylene (United Kingdom) talks about how her father gave her strength during the weakest moments in her life. Suzette (Philippines) shares how her dad helped her pass the board exams. Fr. Raymond (France) reflects on the Father’s desire to establish an intimate heart to heart relationship with us. And Weng (United Kingdom), who lost his papa in 1997, has an inspiring message for children whose fathers have already passed away. Download this podcast to listen to their stories and reflections.

In this podcast you will meet Mark, a Belgian missionary of the Sacred Heart who did pastoral work with street children for 21 months in Fiji. He will share with us the pains and gains of living in another country, and the unsurpassable joy of being able to share God’s love with impoverished children. I will introduce a new section of my podcast called SpiritFresh 360 – reflections and insights to refresh and nourish your soul. You will also get to hear a song entitled “Our Song of Love”.

What is the Spirituality of the Heart? How can we experience and live it out amidst the challenges and problems we face everyday? Three guests, including the General Superior of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, give their personal responses and reflections on the Spirituality of the Heart. Plus you will hear a song entitled “Let Us Be the Voice of Your Heart”. Sounds great, right?
